Which Immigration Office to Contact When Moving During an Application

- I am currently applying for a change of status of residence at the Tokyo Immigration Office, but I plan to move to Hokkaido while my application is still under review. Can I receive the result at the Hokkaido Immigration Office instead?
- As a general rule, this is not possible. Normally, the result must be received at the immigration office where the application was originally submitted. However, depending on the circumstances and the discretion of the immigration authorities, it may be possible to receive the result at the immigration office nearest to your new residence after explaining your situation. Therefore, we recommend first consulting with the immigration office where the application was filed.
In fact, there have been past cases where an application submitted in Osaka was finalized and the result was received at the Tokyo Immigration Office.
